A New Dawn for Mass Timber: San Francisco gets its first CLT project

This four-story project is the first CLT commercial office project not only in San Francisco, but in the entire State of California. Featuring a mixed construction method, 1 De Haro maximizes the assembly area at the roof for the office tenants in the wood floors while the concrete ground floor accommodates space capable of allowing for light manufacturing.

Project Highlights

  • features approximately 100,000-sf of CLT, glulam beams and columns and a timber concrete composite floor, making it
  • 550 CLT panels were used
  • The use of mass timber equates to roughly 2,000 metric tons of stored carbon
  • Utilizes some of the longest single-span cantilever floor plates in North America via a timber concrete composite floor assembly with spans of up to 25 feet
