DCI Engineers is providing structural engineering for the new Austin Children’s Museum. Currently, this innovative “museum without walls” is housed in a rented space in downtown Austin. The new plans include an increase in its size, innovative exhibits, and more interactive public open spaces.
- New location intended as a destination point in a planned mixed-use urban development.
- Large 30’ overhang roof.
- Includes extensive exterior finishing glazing on three sides.
- Innovative use of mixed construction types including insulated concrete tilt panel, wood framing, cast-in-place concrete, and structural steel.
- Includes modular exhibit space, meeting space, office and retail space, and other support spaces.
