Hyatt Regency Portland
Meeting the Tourism Demand: The long-envisioned hotel for Portland’s convention center
The City of Roses is ready to take on bigger national conventions and events, and a 600-room Hyatt Regency will be built to accommodate the influx of visitors. The 440,000-sf building will include two distinct portions: a 14-story concrete hotel tower and a four-story steel framed ballroom interconnected with a shared base level. The hotel portion will be constructed out of post-tensioned concrete floors and shear wall lateral system. The ballroom will contain a lateral system of special concentric brace frames and composite post-tensioned slabs.
- The Hyatt Regency will be part of the iconic convention center superblock in the Lloyd District.
- DCI conducted a dynamic modal response spectrum analysis for the non-rectangular hotel tower.
- The LEED-certified hotel will face the public plaza creating foot traffic between the Hyatt Regency and the convention center.
