Kalispell Regional Medical Center Surgical Services Addition

Kalispell Regional Medical Center Surgical Services Addition

Expanding Operations for the Flathead Valley: Three-Story tower provides improved services for Kalispell’s major hospital

In March 2013, Kalispell Regional Medical Center opened a new 125,000-sf surgical services tower, a $42 million project. The addition features eight operating rooms, 18 surgery beds and post-anesthesia beds and two endoscopy rooms.

DCI+BCE Engineers provided cost-estimating services throughout the design process to aid the design team in the decision-making process so the project would not exceed budget requirements.

Project Highlights

  • New structural columns woven throughout the existing hospital allowed hospital operations to continue during construction
  • A structural steel system with concentrically-braced frames and non-structural light gage steel stud walls create a flexible floor plan for future revisions to the space, and the ability to support new medical equipment from a stout structure throughout the life of the building.
