Expanding the HQ: Vaisala’s US location demands more office space

Weather technology company, Vaisala, established a US headquarters in Colorado to attract the region’s high-tech savvy workforce to produce their quality environmental measurement products. Business leadership soon discovered they needed more office space to accommodate additional operations and research and development activities. Vaisala is adding a two-story wing to their current single story facility. The expansion will support new rooftop solar panels, which will help the company achieve building sustainability targets for low energy consumption.

DCI Engineers is the Engineer of Record for the Vaisala expansion project. The engineering team is designing the primary structural systems which includes concrete shear walls; a configuration of steel columns, beams and girders; cross laminated timber flooring and low roof panel systems; and a high roof plan.

Project Highlights

  • The high roof plan will be constructed of steel and metal deck materials to create 30-foot cantilevers.
  • There will be a new parking lot for 100 vehicles.
