The whitepaper titled “The Independent: A Case Study on Delivering the Architect’s Vision with an Economical Concrete High-Rise” was presented during the 2019 SEI/ASCE Structures Congress in Orlando, Florida held April 24-27. ASCE members can login and download the document here.
A community or city is in constant change when it comes to population growth, job availability, and living situations. Structural engineers are often faced with generating designs that accommodate those changes through urban expanse and maximizing tenant space. As dense neighborhood living grows in popularity, what should structural engineers consider in their designs? More importantly, how will structural engineers improve their services to their clients as the market demands change?
Revit has quickly risen to prominence as a tool of collaboration in the A/E/C industry. DCI BIM Coordinator Tom Whitehead has been tasked with implementing DCI's long used and deeply customized AutoCAD program and standards into Revit. Recently he attended the ‘invite only’ Revit Gunslinger event in New Hampshire. As one of only forty Revit users invited to this event; it's safe to say that Tom Whitehead is a bona fide gunslinger of the Wild Wild Revit West. We sat down with Tom to get a look into his history with Revit and to have a peek into the future of BIM.
Austin, Texas may be home to the UT Longhorns, delicious barbeque, and fantastic live music, but it is also home to our first non-west coast office. In 2008, DCI Engineers opened its doors after having worked for over half a decade on projects in the Lone Star state. Five DCI employees from the Spokane, Seattle, and San Diego offices moved to Austin and now enjoy 75 degree Thanksgivings and golfing almost all year long. We have done work on a variety of projects across the country and the world including Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Aruba, and Santa Cruz, Bolivia.
It has been a very busy year for DCI Engineers. With new projects, new hires, and even a new office, the expansion of our operations in the past year is a testament to the great work that our employees do and the wonderful industry that surrounds us.
On behalf of DCI Engineers and Childhaven, we would like to thank all of our clients, sponsors, family, and friends who came out to support Childhaven at our 25th Annual Golf Tournament on August 29th, 2013. It was wonderful to see everyone out on the course, and despite the rain, we had a magnificent time and a great turnout.
