DCI’s Spokane office was recently voted “Best Engineering Firm” by Spokane Coeur d’Alene Living’s 2019 Best of Business to Business Awards. The office also ranked #3 for “Largest Engineering Firm” in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene region by Spokane Journal of Business’ 2019 Book of Lists (ranked by number of licensed engineers). The team is proud to have earned these prestigious titles, which also remind them how much the office has experienced since its opening in 1998.
DCI Engineers' project, the "M" was featured in the Spokane Coeur d'Alene Living magazine in an article written by Rose Bechtold, Communications Specialist. The M, formerly a Macy’s department store, is now a readapted 370,000-sf mixed-use building. The single structure comprises of retail levels on the first two floors, and a combination of commercial and residential levels for the above-grade floors. One building section is 11-stories (former Macy’s building), while another section (Wraight building) is eight-stories.

It’s that time of the year again – a slight chill in the air, autumn colors on the trees and more school busses on the roads. Thousands of students around the country are heading back to schools that bear the fingerprints of DCI Engineers and their innovative design approach.
Here are a few examples of school facilities designed by DCI Engineers, including some that are currently in the works:
Although pervious concrete has been around since the 1800’s, we wanted to learn more about this unique and sustainable alternative to traditional concrete. As our resident pervious concrete pro, we sat down with Damon Smith to discuss the basics.
What is pervious concrete?
In celebration of Engineering Week 2014, DCI Engineers had the pleasure of being a part of the Greater Spokane Incorporated’s, Business AfterSchool program. This program introduces area students to high-demand industries and demonstrates to them what skills and educational paths will be required. We had the opportunity to give the students a tour of one of our project sites, the Convention Center Hotel located in Spokane, Washington and illustrate to them the scope of planning and cooperation that goes into building a 716-key hotel.
It has been a very busy year for DCI Engineers. With new projects, new hires, and even a new office, the expansion of our operations in the past year is a testament to the great work that our employees do and the wonderful industry that surrounds us.
On Baja California’s southernmost tip, a granite mountain crashes into the Pacific Ocean. This is the site for the majestic Grand Solmar Land’s End Resort and Spa, located in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. From the magnificent ocean side infinity pools to the breathtaking ocean views, this entire development feels like an oasis. Building such a luxurious facility presented some unique and stimulating challenges.
Dear Friends, Colleagues, Clients, and Employees:
As our annual charity golf tournament is fast approaching and we are experiencing the beautiful summer weather in Seattle, it would seem an appropriate time to use a golf analogy to discuss the recent success at DCI. On the golf course I am always trying, (and rarely succeeding) to make birdies and achieve a great score. Unlike my golf game, as the President of DCI Engineers I am seeing success is all around me.
