Lockwood High School
Lions Lair: New high school for the Lockwood community
Lockwood High School is a newly constructed 150,000-sf school facility, which includes a common area, three-story classroom wing, auditorium, tournament gym (with a mezzanine level), practice gym, and two-story locker room space. DCI Engineers designed the primary gravity and lateral structural systems for the main school and detached education buildings. The main building’s gravity resisting system comprises of concrete over metal decking which is supported by steel open web joists, structural steel beams and columns. Lockwood High School has capacity for 700 students.
- To reduce steel tonnage for the main building, the engineers reinforced floor beams and girders with composite welded studs.
- For Lockwood Stadium, the team designed the foundation system for the grandstands, concession stand, and facility buildings. The stadium has capacity for 4,500 spectators.
- High school also features detached education spaces, such as a 1,500-sf greenhouse and 4,500-sf vocational agriculture building.
