DCI Announces 2022 Mass Timber Webinar Series

As a follow-up to last year’s successful mass timber webinar series, DCI Engineers is launching its 2022 edition, featuring three topics throughout the month of February. Each session is free and will include a panel of industry experts.

Session #1: Mass Timber Public Projects – Competitive Bidding While Designing for Efficiency
with DCI Engineers and Mortenson – Feb. 3 @ 9am PST

Explores the benefits of selecting a manufacturer early in schematic design and how that translates for publicly bid projects and their established baseline standards. Attendees will learn more about the difference between generic product specifications and proprietary product specifications for mass timber, cost estimating, its applications within the design/build process, wood species selection and how it impacts architectural intent, and the roles of both engineer and general contractor on the manufacturer and installer selection process.

This presentation will focus on the first mass timber building, 1 DeHaro in San Francisco, and how embodied carbon played a critical role in the concrete and mass timber design for the project. This presentation will review the sustainability goals of the client, architect, engineers and construction team and how they were achieved using life cycle assessments (LCA’s).
