DCI Engineers aims to keep abreast of industry standards and advancements, recognizing our role in the bigger picture of an ever-changing landscape. Whether it’s urbanization, industry trends, or trade advancements, there is an entire discussion revolving around the built environment – and DCI is thrilled to be at the center of that conversation.
From October 30 through November 3, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat will gather in three Australian cities for the CTBUH 2017 Conference, “Connecting the City: People, Density & Infrastructure.”
DCI’s own Roger Heeringa and John Tessem are making return trips to the conference, with this year focusing on tall buildings as “vehicles for creating increased density not just through sheer height, but by connecting multiple layers of the city.”
Conference discussions range from urban policy and transit-oriented development to modular construction and the user experience. A Tall Timber Pre-Conference Workshop, which Roger will be attending that Sunday, addresses a building material application of which DCI is enthusiastically pursuing as an option for future projects.
The trip includes a tour of Windtech’s wind tunnel test facility, the same firm that teamed up with DCI on The Independent, Austin’s soon-to-be tallest building at just over 208 meters that will provide residential, retail and office space – a central hub for Austin growth and activity.
