“At a base level, we turn the architectural information and engineering output into a qualitative, functional model and set of drawings, but in the larger scope, Revit gives designers the opportunity to provide a higher level of coordination and overall value to the entire project team.”

Justin Hancock sees the AEC design world as a two-fold benefit: a solid career field with little up-and-down fluctuation—aside from the excitement that comes with introducing new tools and technologies—and an engaging world that holds his interests.

For Justin, these experiences closely intertwine with DCI as he joined the firm right out of drafting school at ITT Tech. Since 2004, he’s evolved his career by taking on different project types, from structural steel to concrete podiums, and helping launch the Austin office before settling into his management role in Spokane – although he travels often to other DCI offices, assisting in training for up-and-coming BIM staff.

As someone who’s forged his own path at DCI, Justin is passionate about providing support to younger staff in their personal and professional growth.

Where is your hometown?
I was raised in Wilson Creek, WA, a tiny town 30 miles north of Moses Lake.

What is your favorite thing about the DCI work environment?
I love being able to manage my own work but also have a team of people to collaborate with and get help from when needed.

If you weren’t a BIM Manager, what would you do?
I’d love to work in the outdoor industry, possibly in product development.
