I’ve always liked puzzles, and structural engineering is just a much bigger version of that. Every project is a chance to fit the pieces together early so problems don’t show up later. Doing that alongside smart, creative teammates is what keeps the work energizing.”
Richard (Rick) Savona began his structural engineering career in Kansas City, designing pipe supports for an overseas nuclear power facility—an early role that included time working abroad. In 2013, he joined MacIntosh Engineering, where he established a long‑term professional home prior to the firm’s merger with DCI in 2022.
Rick has built his career delivering complex projects across a wide geographic footprint, with particular depth in casinos, hotels, healthcare, and mixed‑use developments. His work includes high‑profile gaming and hospitality projects throughout the Midwest and Atlantic City, hospitals and medical office buildings across Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, and mixed‑use developments in the greater Philadelphia area, along with specialized projects nationwide. Over the past three years, he has served as a project manager, leading efforts from early design through construction while balancing technical problem‑solving, client coordination, and business development.
Known around the office for his outgoing personality and collaborative approach, Rick prioritizes strong, trust‑based relationships with clients, design partners, and construction teams. He believes that successful projects—and repeat work—are built as much on communication and reliability as they are on sound engineering. In an industry often defined by quiet focus, Rick brings energy, humor, and a people‑first mindset to every project, creating partnerships that extend well beyond a single scope of work.
