The Commercial Real Estate Development Association (NAIOP) recently held its annual Night of the Stars gala in downtown Bellevue, Washington. With all of the wonderful projects up for awards, it was a great surprise for one of DCI’s projects in Spokane, Washington received an award for the 2012 Redevelopment/Renovation Development of the Year!
The Spokane and Inland Empire Railroad Company (SIERR) was originally constructed in 1907 and had fallen into disrepair. Our friends at McKinstry recently purchased the deteriorating building as its new Inland Northwest office, and led the preservation team for this adaptive reuse project that turned a century-old building into a smart, clean, and efficient historic workplace.
Our structural and civil folks in Spokane were happy to be part of this unique project! They provided services for structural upgrades, the addition of mezzanines, decks, and an elevator core in the interior, as well as transportation and traffic engineering, complex stormwater design, and site design.
In addition to being honored with a prestigious NAIOP Night of the Stars award, this project has also received a 2012 Preservation Honor from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, as well as the 2012 State Historic Preservation Officer’s Awards for Achievement in Historic Preservation.
