DCI’s New Associate Principals and Associates

DCI Engineers is pleased to announce the promotion of the following staff to their new roles.

Matthew Frisby, PE, has been promoted to Associate Principal in the Seattle office and now leads the Seattle civil engineering team. Since joining DCI, Matthew has elevated himself as a senior civil project manager interfacing with local jurisdictions as a knowledgeable expert in commercial, multi-family residence, hospitality, mixed-use, and high-rise projects, specifically with site preparation, compliance, and development feasibility in Seattle, Bellevue, and its greater metropolitan areas. Matthew will mentor the team as they are assigned to new projects and engage with city personnel and authorities having jurisdiction.

Kelly Andersen, PE, SE, has been promoted to Associate Principal in the Spokane office. Splitting her time between Spokane and the Coeur d’Alene satellite office, Kelly will now include regional business development efforts in her new role. Since joining the firm, she has worked on a variety of different project types, such as higher education, multi-family housing, and office/retail. Highlights of her past work include the Coeur d’Alene High School Modernization & Addition, Gonzaga University Integrated Science and Engineering Building, and the North Idaho College Wellness & Recreation Center.

Suzanne Clemmer has been promoted to Associate Principal in the Los Angeles office. Since joining the firm in 2003, Suzanne has established herself as a knowledgeable and approachable business development manager. Originally based in DCI’s San Diego office, she moved to Los Angeles in 2015 to set up the firm’s new office there. She currently manages the business development efforts for all four of DCI’s California offices. An advocate for building more affordable, transitional and workforce housing in California, she is optimistic about modular construction as a potential solution to address the problem. Suzanne has been on the board of the San Diego Architectural Foundation for 10 years and is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the Society for College and University Planning, the Los Angeles Headquarters Association, and the Society for Marketing Professional Services.

Colby Litzenberger, PE, SE, has been promoted to Associate in the Spokane office. Since joining the firm, he has advanced his project management skills and become a recognized engineering professional in the local industries, jurisdictions, school districts, and general community. His notable accomplishments include the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, Mead Performing Arts & Union Stadium, Franklin Elementary School, the Airway Heights Recreation Center, and the Marimn Health Recreation Center.

Chris Ferrera, PE, SE, has been promoted to Associate in the Spokane office. Since joining the firm, he has become a recognized engineering leader and shown his talent in supporting expansion/renovation work and industrial engineering projects. Chris is best known for his contributions on Fremont Apartments (Portland), 1st Avenue Mixed-Use (Spokane), Spokane Convention Center Expansion, WSU Museum of Art Expansion, Bellevue at Main Mixed-Use, and a variety of large, mixed-use podium structures and heavy industrial projects.

John Oldfield, PE, SE, has been promoted to Associate in the Anchorage office. He quickly advanced at the firm as a reliable senior project manager interfacing a variety of clients and subcontractors. John’s notable work include the Medline Warehouse, KANA Marketplace, Homer Police Station, Elizabeth Place, Bartlett Outpatient Facility, High Port Condos, and 100 E. Ocean (Long Beach, California). John co-chairs the in-house steel and aluminum technical committee. He shares his previous engineering experience with long span steel trusses integrated into airplane hangars, industrial, and military facilities.

Sam Fox, PE, SE, has been promoted to Associate in the Bozeman office. Since joining the firm, Sam gained extensive experience with full-service project management and construction support for a diverse range of project types. Her recent accomplishments include the Lake Hotel Kitchen retrofit project in Yellowstone National Park and East Middle School Renovation & Addition in Butte, Montana. Sam published an article in STRUCTURE magazine about the work she contributed to historic structures in Yellowstone National Park.

Branton Sorbel, PE, SE, has been promoted to Associate in the Kalispell office. He has been an invaluable resource at the firm for bridge engineering, bridge load rating and evaluation, cost estimates, alternative design studies, and project management. Branton is naturally the co-chair of the in-house bridge design technical committee. His portfolio includes hundreds of TrueNorth Bridge installations; Metcalf Bridge Rehabilitation and Mazurek Bridge in Helena, Montana; Coleman Creek Bridge in Ellensburg, Washington. Branton’s senior project management support is also allocated toward commercial, healthcare, and educational structural engineering projects.

Sumandeep Singh has been promoted to Associate. He oversees BIM support from the San Francisco office, providing modeling and project coordination for all of DCI’s 13 offices. He was essential in growing the firm’s satellite design office to 15 support staff, which he continues to lead today. In addition to developing drawing standards for the San Francisco office and leading internal BIM education, Sumandeep manages large, complex projects, often coordinating between clients directly to improve quality and efficiency. Since his work philosophy is to support everyone, Sumandeep is often out in the field, making sure the design is working well in construction. He has produced a variety of drawings for mixed-use, hospitality, residential, commercial, education, and parking structures. His portfolio includes the 1 De Haro office building in San Francisco, California; Menlo Park Belle Haven Community Center in Menlo Park, California; and Project One in Oakland, California.

Natasha Richie, PE, has been promoted to Associate in the Austin office. She has provided senior project management and construction administration support since she joined the firm. With more than 20 years in the industry, her structural engineering portfolio ranges from high-rise, student housing, multi-family residential, commercial mixed-use, and hospitality projects. Her notable project accomplishments include Centrum 606 in Chicago, Illinois; Grand Solmar Resort Phase II in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Sonesta Hotel in Bee Cave, Texas; and Inspire Student Living in Austin, Texas.

Matt Gibb, PE, has been promoted to Associate in the Spokane office. His extensive civil engineering and senior project management experience with local authorities having jurisdiction makes him an asset to his department. His portfolio ranges from higher education residential halls, K-12 education facilities, healthcare, and commercial projects. His notable accomplishments include the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, Spokane International Airport Rental Car Facility upgrade, Polaris at SeaTac, and North Idaho College Student Recreation Center.

Ivan Cazares, CPA, has been promoted to Associate in the Seattle office. He helped implement the enterprise resource planning software upgrade from Vision to VantagePoint along with shortening the month-end financial close. Ivan strives to develop efficient work processes while still providing financial transparency. Ivan is responsible for overseeing DCI’s accounting team. He also supports DCI’s executive management team.
