The best experience you can have as an engineer is when your client has a problem or challenge that defies common practice or typical designs, and you can come up with a simple, elegant, and economical solution that not only meets that challenge, but also saves the project. People do not want us to tell them why something won’t work, they want us to find something that will work.”

Richard brings a dynamic, lively spirit to the DCI team, which always carries over to his projects and the way he interacts with the entire design team. He has decades of professional experience with design, project management, and building evaluation of structures. In addition to his technical expertise, he frequently finds ways to build lasting relationships with clients, colleagues, and coworkers. Richard originally moved to San Diego to help start DCI’s first California office, and in 2012, he moved back to the Seattle office to be closer to his family and friends. His optimistic and ever-cheerful attitude around the office makes him a distinct bright spot in a city that is well-known for its dreary, cloudy environment.
