This 18-story concrete multi-family residential tower in Los Angeles is currently the largest permanent supportive housing project funded by Proposition HHH. The design of 600 San Pedro includes 298 studio units and four two-bedroom management units. The project also includes a separate five-story parking garage for 233 vehicles.
600 San Pedro has already been referenced in a whitepaper by the Central City Association of Los Angeles as an ideal example for large-scale affordable housing to better serve economically vulnerable residents.
DCI optimized the column layout so an efficient, 7” thick post-tensioned slab could be used in conjunction with straight concrete blade walls. The straight walls allowed for lower cost formwork, faster cycle times, and a reduction in overall schedule. This aggressive approach helped DCI with the design-build competition for this project.
