Adaro Sizer Station

Mining for Adaptability: Peer review of crusher station design led to equipment mobility

The overland sizer station crushes 12,000 metric tonnes of material per hour and includes a box girder/pontoon chassis, built-up plate hopper, apron feeder, and stick-framed mechanical tower. Access bridges for haul trucks to dump into the hopper were supported off each side of the sizer station to provide direct access to the sizer station.

DCI utilized finite element analysis (FEA), construction know-how, and previous sizer station analysis to perform a third party peer review of the existing design and produce supportive designs to stiffen the chassis where required. The engineering team evaluated both global and local plate buckling, which required a thorough effort in assessing results from the FEA, determining applicable engineering factors, and applying code requirements to the supporting software.
