Project Highlights

  • Interior has striking two-story high volume opening with an enclosed circular monumental stair.
  • The building is fully wired for technology at any point on any floor, except the underground parking garage.
  • Computerized book handling system automatically scans, processes and sorts books as they are returned.
  • Concrete joist framing system was chosen to support the library stack loads with minimal overall structural depth and the ability to conform to the curves of the architectural floor plan.
  • Concrete also has the advantage of thermal mass to assist in balancing heating and cooling of the building.
  • Roof structure designed with steel so that the arched architectural form could be achieved.
