A Home Away From Homes: Engineering a youth center near the center of Navy operations in Bremerton, Washington

DCI Engineers provided the structural engineering design of this 13,000-sf, single story youth center. This building is comprised of a gymnasium, offices, classrooms, general use area, and a teen center. Designed to give youth the capability to enjoy structured activities as well as have access to several amenities, Jackson Park Youth Center is a continuous hub of events.

Project Highlights:

• Wide flange steel beams supported on tube-steel columns provide support to the roof joists in the open areas
• The office/classroom/general use area consists of a 1.5" metal deck roof on a combination of open web steel joists and light gage steel joists bearing directly on light gage steel stud walls with "Sure-Board" sheathing at the shear wall locations
