Murano Senior Living

Urban chic senior housing serves Seattle’s First Hill community

The Archdiocese of Seattle and St. James Cathedral envisioned the Murano Senior Living building to serve the growing, aging population of Seattle. This 356,000-sf tower project presents an engaging street-level experience in the First Hill neighborhood where affiliated church programs and services would be available for the community, as well as residents. Murano Senior Living is a 24-story concrete residential building with commercial space on the first few levels. The high-rise offers two below-grade parking levels for valet parking and 245 residential units. Amenities include a restaurant, café, lounge areas, auditorium, art studio, cinema, salon, classroom, fitness facilities, commercial kitchen and laundry facilities.

DCI Engineers provided structural and civil engineering support for this project. The structural engineering staff compiled the permit and design drawing sets of the framing systems. The building design controls drift for Levels 1 through 6 with a special reinforced concrete shear wall core and special moment frames. The civil engineers developed street improvement plans and a stormwater management design with bioretention planters to comply with the City of Seattle’s specific drainage codes.
