Affordable Housing in Mountainview

The project, located at 777 W. Middlefield Road, in Mountain View, California, is a 9.71 acre multi-family residential project encompassing 716 total units, configured into three separate structures above grade. 572 of the studio, one-, and two-bedroom units are market-rate, located in two buildings (Buildings A and B). The third building (Building C) consists of 144 moderate and low income units reserved for Mountain View Whisman School District employees and teachers. A two-story basement provides space for parking and tenant storage. Tenant amenities include a large courtyard at grade with a pool, co-working space, fitness centers and several club rooms.

Residential levels vary from three stories to five stories and will be constructed of wood framing with engineered wood I-joists spanning to stud bearing walls. Wood sheathing will be applied to a selection of the interior bearing walls to provide lateral force resistance to wind and seismic loads. Exterior walls are not being used for these shear walls in order to avoid conflicts with mechanical systems and provide more architectural flexibility for windows and daylighting.

The buildings will be supported at grade by a post-tensioned concrete slab (Buildings A and B) and by an at-grade mat foundation (Building C).
