Creating a Winery Learning Center: Providing structural solutions for this unique higher education facility

DCI Engineers provided structural engineering services for this new winery learning center at Umpqua Community College. It functions as a multi-level classroom, assembly area, and wine production and storage facility.

Project Highlights

  • Upper level is used primarily for education, administration, and hospitality functions, while the lower level is used for wine production and storage.
  • Lower level barrel storage, themed wine cave, and fermentation room is framed with concrete walls. The main floor is steel framed.
  • The exposed roof structure is framed with a heavy curved timber roof system.
