Accessible Union Flats: Driving livability through modular design

This market-rate, modular construction project offers 243 residential units that are within steps of a Bay Area transit station and includes live-work lofts and one- to two-bedroom units. The 388 Type V wood construction mods were pre-constructed in Idaho while foundations were being poured on-site, allowing schedule overlap.

About 400 mods were pre-built and fixtures were pre-installed by the time they arrived on-site, which included pre-poured foundations for the four-story residential complex. This overlap of construction allowed the developer to meet an accelerated schedule and resulted in 12 mods placed per day.
DCI’s Seattle and San Francisco offices both provided structural design – Seattle designed the residential structures while San Francisco designed the five-story parking garage, along with providing site visits and construction support services.
