The Yugo in Austin is a 300-foot-tall apartment building located near the University of Texas, Austin campus. The building has a ground floor lobby and four levels of indoor parking from Floors 2 to 5. The following 25 levels of the building are residential and have 241 apartment units, all of which come fully furnished and have a combined total of 796 beds. The apartments come in many layouts, from studios to six-bed, four-bath units. When residents aren’t working or studying, they can head up to the building’s rooftop amenity deck, complete with a pool, barbecue pits and a picnic area. More amenities are inside the building, like study rooms, an on-site coffee shop, fitness center and sauna.
It is the tallest building in Austin’s “The Drag” neighborhood and is one of the tallest buildings in the city, just 11 feet shorter than the Texas Capitol building.
The Yugo is one of the first buildings to take advantage of Austin’s new density bonus program within the designated University Neighborhood Overlay District. Normally, buildings in the area are not permitted to exceed 225 feet in height. But thanks to the new program, the building’s size could be expanded vertically in exchange for affordably priced units.
