The Austin team's specialty is high-end student housing, the towers and wood-frame communities that ring campuses, and while plenty of it is right here for the University of Texas, the office built its brand on traveling, with projects in a dozen states from Michigan to Arizona. Founded in 2008 by engineers who moved down from the Pacific Northwest, it became DCI's most eastward hub and never asks a client to come to Texas. The new space is themed like a record studio, DCI projects printed onto the vinyl records lining the walls and everyone's name tag a 7-inch single, with music playing all day, weekly breakfast tacos, and potlucks that show off just how many places people are from.
