DCI Engineers, a leading structural and civil engineering consulting firm with 20+ offices spanning the United States, has an opportunity for a full-time Structural Engineering Project Manager in its Austin, TX office as the primary location. DCI will consider the Austin or Houston office as alternate locations.

Responsibilities of a Structural Project Manager:

  • Develop, coordinate, and direct production of engineering project documents
  • Prepare fee proposals and contracts
  • Develop workload and scheduling projections for project staff
  • Oversee and perform calculations, design, and analysis of applicable elements for projects
  • Collaborate with the engineering and drafting teams to coordinate design details and construction document requirements
  • Oversee/perform construction observations and write reports
  • Review shop drawings during construction
  • Evaluate additional service requests, review billing, and coordinate permit responses and construction support services
  • Develop a client base

Requirements for a Senior Structural Project Manager:

  • 2-6 years of structural project management experience, in addition to 4+ years of structural design engineering experience
  • Civil Engineering degree from an ABET accredited university and PE license required
  • Experience designing and managing projects using steel, concrete, and wood design materials
  • Skilled at designing all categories of lateral and gravity framing systems for every building and material type
  • Ability to manage your time, juggling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to lead and train junior engineers and coordinate with BIM Designers
  • Desire to build strong client relationships and provide excellent service
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders – clients, and design and construction teams
  • Master’s degree and SE license preferred

Responsibilities of a Structural Project Engineer:

  • Perform the structural design of assigned tasks under the supervision of the Project Manager
  • Collaborate with BIM Designers to produce structural construction documents and draft details in REVIT
  • Assist Project Managers with Construction Support, including shop drawing review and answering RFIs
  • Progressively grow your technical knowledge through both internal project experience and continuing education

Requirements for a Structural Engineer:

  • 0-2 years of structural engineering experience, as it relates to building design
  • Working knowledge and project experience using steel, concrete and wood design materials
  • Experience designing all categories of gravity framing and wind resisting systems
  • Basic knowledge of design/build codes, such as the AISC, ACI 318, IBC, and ASCE 7
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis software, such as RISA 3D, RAM, ETABS, Enercalc, etc.
  • Ability to manage your time, juggling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Desire to provide excellent service and build client relationships
  • Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Effective communication skills
  • Possess a state-issued Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate
  • Structural/Civil/Architectural Engineering degree from an ABET accredited university, preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred

DCI Engineers, a leading structural and civil engineering consulting firm, is pleased to announce an internship opportunity in conjunction with the Energy Trust of Oregon’s Net Zero Emerging Leaders program. 

Expectations and Goals of the Internship:

  • Support DCI in gaining insights on the embodied carbon associated with our building projects.
  • To develop familiarity with DCI’s projects and the expectations of our SE 2050 commitment.
  • Assist us in meeting the reporting requirements of the SE2050 commitment, with a focus on measuring projects in Oregon.
  • Establish data collection and a reporting infrastructure to support DCI’s SE 2050 commitments.
  • Assist DCI in drawing conclusions from data collected to inform future design practices or creating and quantifying sustainability metrics.
  • Assist DCI in embedding embodied carbon calculations into company-wide structural design tools
  • Participate in 1-2 virtual meetings with other interns in the program.

Requirements:

  • Student or recent graduate of a Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, Environmental, or Sustainability program.
  • Able to work 10-16 hours per week between January and April 2026 in DCI’s Austin, TX office.
  • Willing to sign the Statement of Liability associated with the Energy Trust of Oregon’s Media Consent and Release requirements.
  • Able to deliver a presentation at Energy Trust New Buildings’ virtually hosted event in April 2026.
