San Diego is the perfect city for sunshine most of the year, sipping wine on a rooftop patio, enjoying the beach life, exploring downtown by scooter, and becoming an active outdoor enthusiast. It’s also a city where DCI’s structural projects are prominent throughout downtown and surrounding neighborhoods, such as Hillcrest, Barrio Logan, Point Loma, and Mission Hills.

The San Diego office opened in 2001 to keep up with growing market demands of southern California. The downtown office is just 10 minutes away from the international airport. Employees can take public transit or the trolley into work (includes trolley connections to UTC and UCSD). Principal Ryan Slaybaugh heads the team of 20 engineers, designers, and support staff. Over the years, they have devoted their engineering time to designing concrete commercial developments, mixed-use, office, multi-family high-rises, and affordable housing. Notable contributions include UCSD and SDSU student housing, design-build military projects, and office/commercial-use retrofits.

In addition to these project types, DCI San Diego is also pursuing life science office/lab projects throughout the region. Team members can be seen networking and sometimes presenting at local BISNOW and industry organization events (San Diego Architectural Foundation, AIA San Diego, SEAOSD, ACI San Diego).
