Famous for its scenery and cultural attractions, San Francisco maintains its allure of being the “Paris of the Pacific” by attracting entrepreneurs, artists, students/academics, and tourists. In recent decades, the city evolved into a high-tech commerce hub drawing even more national and global talent into the area. San Francisco continues to experience growth in population density, which drives demand for more housing and services. Consistent growth and serving more AEC professionals became the main reasons DCI established a Bay Area office in 2013.
CEO/Principal Jeff Brink directs the office of approximately 40 engineers, technical, and non-technical support members. DCI San Francisco is ranked yearly on the San Francisco Business Times Book of Lists for being one of the “Top Engineering Firms in the Bay Area.” Their most notable work is Fifteen Fifty Mission Street and 1 De Haro. Fifteen Fifty was the first high-rise in the U.S. to utilize high-strength reinforcing (80 KSI) in the vertical steel of the shear wall boundary elements. This performance based design approach allowed the tower to reach greater heights than allowed by prescriptive methods outlined in the building code. 1 De Haro was the first multi-story cross-laminated timber (CLT) building in the state of California. It’s ambitious ingenuity like this that characterizes the drive of the San Francisco team.
