Adaro Overland Conveyor

Alternative Transport: Conveying system reduces coal truck hauling

DCI’s heavy industrial team engineered structural support and coordinated construction aid documentation for a mining industry client who installed a 4,040 meter overland conveying system at an Indonesian coal mine. The material handling equipment expansion allows for more efficient mining operations which decreased truck hauling activity. The overland conveyor system has the processing capacity of about 12,000 metric tonnes per hour.

Head, tail, and take-up frames were designed to be semi-mobile so that a crawler could pick up each frame from below at its center of gravity and move the frames to different locations. Massive belt tension forces and torques from four motors (1,200 horse power each) were resisted by these frames. DCI accomplished the specific and complex design request in an expedited time frame for the client.
