Almira K-8 School Replacement

Out of the Ashes: Rebuilding and upgrading the Almira K-8 school after fire destroys old schoolhouse

When a fire destroyed the Almira School and District Offices in 2021, it displaced over 130 students along with their teachers and district administrators. The community came together to keep their students on track with their education, providing short-term locations for learning and administrative work. In the meantime, a new, 7,000-sf larger, more advanced school was designed and built for the students, that opened in 2023. The school was designed with each class grade in mind, so each classroom has its own unique features to accommodate students. The school splits elementary and middle school students between floors with grades k-5 on the first floor and grades 6-8 on the second.

I enjoy all stages of a project; but, when construction has been completed, and all of the hard work and collaboration of the team has been transformed into a tangible product, that is when I find this job the most rewarding. Helping our clients achieve their vision is always a gratifying experience.”
