Climax Molybdenum Mine Conveyors

Mining Support: Team designs trusses for conveyor equipment

A material handling equipment contractor tapped DCI’s industrial department to engineer support structures for their elevated, enclosed gallery, and transfer conveyors. The engineers designed the low profile truss support for a 42” SAG mill discharge conveyor; the enclosed gallery support for a 42” pebble crushed feed conveyor; and structural drawings for 48” transfer conveyors. The SAG mill discharge and pebble crushed feed conveyors process material at 437 short ton per hour (STPH) and the transfer conveyors process at 1,500 STPH. The structural drawings assisted the general contractor with the installation and allowed Climax Molybdenum Mine to reopen their open-pit operations at intended output levels of 20,000 tons per day.
