Downtown Wilmington has changed in the last decade with an increase of entertainment venues, artisanal retail, restaurants, and hotels – making the financial center buzzing with activity well into the evening hours. The town is drawing younger folks who prefer tax-free shopping and of course, a lower cost of living compared to New York City or Washington, D.C. Wilmington is just 45 minutes south of Philadelphia – close enough to experience a bigger city or to commute into work.
The DCI+MacINTOSH Wilmington office was originally established in 1999. The business grew naturally under the leadership of Principal Bob MacIntosh, who directs a team of 15 people in engineering, CAD, and marketing roles. Wilmington’s project portfolio includes historic renovation, adaptive reuse, healthcare, institutional, K-12, commercial, hospitality, mixed-use, and multi-family residential, and high-rise buildings.
In 2022, the Wilmington office joined DCI Engineers to expand the firm’s geographic reach and to better serve mid-Atlantic clients. Since DCI’s work culture is similar, the Wilmington team continues to operate the same quality of service local clients expect from a boutique structural engineering firm. The office is actively involved with the Delaware Contractors Association; Carpenter’s Company of the City and County of Philadelphia; Associated Builders and Contractors; AIA Delaware; AIA Philadelphia; General Building Contractors Association (GBCA); and the Commercial-Industrial Realty Council (CIRC).
DCI+MacINTOSH Wilmington partners with the Wayne office for project collaborations and client meetings.
