Announcing our Newest Associates and Associate Principals

Meet DCI's Latest Leaders

We're thrilled to be wrapping up the first quarter of 2026 with the addition of eight staff to DCI's Associates and Associate Principals group.

Hailing from our Structural, Civil, Accounting, BIM, and Survey departments, these individuals represent a diverse sampling of our firm's unique expertise -- roles that support both our external and internal teams in delivering exceptional work across the industry.

Chris Ferrera, PE, SE - Associate Principal | Spokane

Since joining DCI in 2011, Chris has led and supported a wide range of projects across the West Coast. Examples of his work include the Spokane Convention Center Expansion; Washington State University’s Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art in Pullman, Washington; and Block 1, a mixed-use podium development on the Vancouver, Washington waterfront.

Chris leads and mentors engineering teams, promotes collaboration across offices, and ensures quality, efficiency, and consistency in project delivery. He develops structural solutions and provides technical oversight from concept through construction, and works closely with clients as a trusted advisor, supporting long term relationships and strategic growth.

He is recognized for a proactive and collaborative approach to design, integrating structural expertise early to help guide teams toward innovative, practical solutions aligned with broader project goals and overall project success.


Patrick Rice
, PE - Associate Principal | Seattle

With a focus on delivering his clients exceptional service through efficient and cost-effective structural solutions, Patrick has deepened his relationships with project partners throughout the Puget Sound region and across the West Coast. Some of his milestone developments have included Ovation, a two-tower residential high-rise in Seattle; Falls Tower, a condominium mid-rise development on the Spokane River in downtown Spokane; and Laurel Village, a student housing development for UW in Seattle.

In addition to developing his client relationships, Patrick has enjoyed mentoring several DCI staff. Prior to joining DCI in 2013, he earned his Masters at the University of Washington.

Stephen Matkin, PE - Associate Principal | Spokane

Since joining DCI’s civil design group in 2013, Stephen Matkin has been providing civil engineering solutions to complex public and private developments across eastern Washington, partnering closely with owners and project teams to deliver successful outcomes. His experience includes ONE Spokane Stadium, a landmark sports stadium development; Spokane County Parks- Community Park and Plantes Ferry Sports Complex, which is the first progress design build project the civil department has led as the prime designer; and Ridgeline High School, a K–12 campus in Liberty Lake, Washington.

Stephen leads project management and budgeting efforts while guiding teams through design and construction, helping align technical decisions with owner priorities and project goals. He works closely with clients and stakeholders to manage expectations, maintain momentum, and support smooth project delivery.

Known for his flexible and solutions‑oriented approach, Stephen adapts to evolving project needs throughout design, building trust with clients and helping teams navigate challenges while keeping projects moving forward.

Quentin Lee, PE - Associate | San Francisco

Since joining DCI in January 2017, Quentin has supported residential, high‑rise, and higher‑education projects throughout the Bay Area. His experience includes 777 West Middlefield, a residential housing development in Mountain View, California; Tasman, a high‑rise project in Santa Clara, California; and Cabrillo College Student Housing, a DSA‑regulated student housing project in Aptos, California.

Quentin plays an active role in delivering projects from design through construction, contributing to coordination, problem solving, and overall project momentum. He mentors younger engineers and collaborates closely with teams and clients to help projects move forward smoothly.

Known for his practical problem‑solving approach, Quentin brings consistency and reliability to project teams while supporting collaboration and professional development within the firm’s San Francisco group.

Harry Rodin III, PE - Associate | Seattle

Since joining DCI eight years ago, Harry has contributed to a range of office, laboratory, and K–12 projects across the Puget Sound region, with a focus on both mass timber and steel structural systems. His experience includes Northlake Commons, a mass timber office and laboratory development in Seattle; 1001 Office Towers, a steel-framed office project in Bellevue; and Bush Middle School, a mass timber K–12 facility in Seattle.

Harry supports client coordination and delivery while mentoring early-career engineers. He also serves as one of DCI’s mass timber leads, helping guide project teams through system selection, detailing, and constructability considerations. Harry values close collaboration with clients and project teams, with an emphasis on practical problem-solving and developing clear, buildable solutions.

Harry earned both his Master’s Degree and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Washington State University.

Holly Johnson - Associate | Spokane

As Survey Operations Manager for Duryea & Associates, a division of DCI Engineers, Holly is heavily involved in the firm’s survey work in Spokane and throughout the intermountain region and West Coast. As a core member of a smaller department, she contributes to nearly every project – providing continuity, coordination, and operational support from project initiation through completion.

Holly joined the Duryea group in 2018 and is the primary point of contact for both new and returning clients, managing contracts, coordinating field scheduling, and supporting survey staff with project closeout and deliverables. Her role is central to maintaining workflow efficiency and ensuring Duryea’s reputation as a responsive solution for client needs.

Known for her strong client relationships, Holly brings a high level of attention and follow‑through to every project. She maintains detailed familiarity with active and past work, reinforcing trust with clients and ensuring each project receives consistent, personalized support.

Vanessa Ibarra - Associate | Seattle

As Accounting Manager, Vanessa analyzes data and identifies patterns to inform business decisions. She manages the firm’s accounts payable and general accounting operations, overseeing the general ledger and monthly financial close to ensure accurate and reliable financial reporting.

Vanessa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance from Eastern Washington University in 2017. Since joining DCI Engineers in 2023, she has advanced into a leadership role within the accounting department, playing a key role in enhancing financial processes and fostering collaboration across the team. She is passionate about building systems that promote accuracy, transparency, and growth.

Jeff Sizemore - Associate | Anchorage

Since joining DCI in 2015, BIM Department Manager Jeff Sizemore has supported structural projects throughout Alaska, with experience in private and public developments. His projects have included the Hyatt House Anchorage; KANA Marketplace, a 40,000‑sf restoration project and new steel structure in Kodiak, Alaska; and the Carpenters Training Facility, a 30,000‑sf steel structure that required close interdisciplinary coordination.

Jeff creates and coordinates structural models in collaboration with DCI’s engineering teams and multiple project disciplines, supporting clear documentation and efficient project delivery. He manages design schedules for the Anchorage office, coordinating drafting resources to meet project deadlines, and supports project teams while helping train newer engineering staff.

With a background in construction, Jeff brings a practical understanding of how buildings come together, allowing him to anticipate challenges early in the design process. He applies this perspective during project setup, developing clear startup packages that improve efficiency and reduce duplicate effort between engineering and BIM teams.
